Press Release:

October 1, 2019 – ALBANY, NY: The Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (“ESAPA”) surveyed paralegals employed in New York State to evaluate interest in voluntary regulation of the paralegal profession. At the Fall 2019 meeting, the board of directors and delegates of the member associations analyzed the results and determined that majority support for voluntary certification exists among paralegals in the State of New York. Therefore, ESAPA unanimously decided to proceed with creating a state-wide voluntary certification program. The organization anticipates implementing the full program in January of 2021.
